Arkansas!

To love and be loved is to feel the sun on both sides...

This past weekend I spent four glorious days with my dear friends M and J in northwest Arkansas... The air was warm and gentle, the flowers were shining their happy little faces for all the world and the buds on the trees were plumping and popping bright, new green... It was intensely good to get away from the craziness of life here and soak up all the goodness of being with friends.

A sweet little flower fairy atop her throne...

On Friday we went for a hike to Devils Run... a park with different hiking trails about an hour away...

We ambled through the landscape, stopping frequently to examine Springs progress, and learn all of soon-to-be-Dr.-J's interesting nature facts:

Inspecting some unsuspecting tent worms...

...looking at little bitty wildflowers growing...

...and interesting rock formations..

Everyone knows the importance of finding the perfect picnic spot... We found ours down by the river, under a beautiful little red bud, blooming its heart out:

and enjoyed our hummus, tomato and lettuce pitas, apples and chocolate chip pumpkin cookies for dessert...

Among other things that filled our time, we spent a day exploring a funky little town- Eureka Springs... checking out little galleries, shops, eating ice cream OUTSIDE... and we happened upon the biggest windchime- I would wager, IN THE WORLD!!! And if you know me and windchimes... every windchime must be rung...!

SO FREAKING COOL!

It was a glorious warm day that warrented a stop at Beaver Dam on the way home for some wading and some silliness...

Thanks, M&J for a spectacular weekend!!

Hey did you know M & I went to Eureka Springs on our honeymoon? Except it was off season, snowy, cold, deserted. . .looks much more spectacular here. Such fun pictures. Welcome to the bizarre world of blogs.

Wow, Rach is on blogger; I never thought I'd see the day! And I'll never forget the name of your blog, either (I admit--I'm envious. Why didn't I think of it?). Love your pictures--in two weeks, you can post some of OUR escapades!
